What is Perakuan Kompetensi (PC)?

Perakuan Kompetensi, or PC, is the formal certification that authorizes electrical workers to legally perform wiring and electrical installation work in Malaysia. The certificate is issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), the energy regulator, after a worker successfully completes a competency assessment that covers both technical knowledge and hands-on ability in electrical safety and installation standards.

A PC holder has demonstrated competence in areas including electrical circuit design, safe installation practices, testing and commissioning of electrical systems, and compliance with the Electrical Industry Code of Practice (EICP). This qualification is essential for any electrician working on residential, commercial, or industrial electrical projects, as it verifies they meet national safety standards and regulatory requirements.

The certificate is mandatory for electricians performing wiring work under the Electricity Act. Without a valid PC, an electrician cannot legally undertake such work in Malaysia.
